Forklift blue light: Why does the forklift need to use this kind of light
Before introducing anything, one should first explain what it is.
A blue forklift light is an LED light primarily used on forklifts to alert surrounding personnel or anyone near the forklift's working area that a forklift is in operation.
It can be seen as a type of warning light.
Now that we know what it is, why is it needed?
Generally, people may think such lights are unnecessary, but in reality, these lights (used as warning lights on forklifts) sell remarkably well.
Everything seemingly unreasonable has its reasons. Below is some data on forklift accidents (sourced from the internet):
In the United States alone, there are approximately 34,000 forklift accidents annually on average, with about 80 of these resulting in fatalities.
In Europe, there are also thousands of forklift accidents, with hundreds occurring in the UK alone, and about 20% of these accidents happen in public areas, which is very alarming.
In Asia, particularly in China, Japan, and the rapidly developing Southeast Asia regions, these accidents are even more frequent (these areas are often labor-intensive industries where the probability of human-machine contact is higher, and the online data is often quite scary).
Of course, you might think that a fatality rate of only 0.2% isn't significant, but you ignore that a forklift is a heavy machine. No fatalities do not mean it's a minor issue, just like car accidents.
Moreover, an accident doesn't necessarily involve only one person; some accidents may result in multiple deaths.
By now, you should have realized the importance of forklift safety, but you might still not understand why blue forklift lights are needed.
What methods would you think of to remind someone to pay attention to something? They are no more than ways to capture people's hearing, vision, and touch. Of course, you wouldn't want to try a tactile method for forklift safety.
Auditory methods are generally more impactful than visual ones. For instance, people usually remind others by "speaking" or "shouting" rather than using body language (the person is likely to continue their work and ignore your reminder).
Smart people are always the first to propose solutions to problems, and they quickly suggest we can use horns! In fact, most of the time, we do just that, like cars reminding pedestrians.
It seems the problem is solved as long as our drivers stay alert and remember to remind others! There's no need to buy lights then.
However, issues often arise at this point. It's not that the driver reminding others is ineffective, but that people can become drowsy.
We always hope people are focused rather than distracted or numb while doing something, but this is impossible. So you'll find that people can bump into something while walking, let alone a busy driver.
So at this point, we have to add some insurance and equip forklifts with automatic reminder devices like continuously flashing yellow warning lights.
Now everything should be fine, right? Indeed, at this point, most forklift accidents have been avoided.
But
In fact, forklifts equipped with these devices have long been common in Europe and the United States, yet the frightening data mentioned earlier still occurs under such circumstances!
Why? Because forklift working environments are diverse, for example, in noisy environments, the aforementioned methods almost fail, and most industrial environments are noisy.
So what now? Maybe those with good memory will remember we discussed another method, visual!

Surely we can't put safety signs on forklifts? That would be too ridiculous, and we certainly wouldn't do something that silly.
Initially, people would plan routes for forklifts and use yellow or other colored paint to mark a line along the route's edges to remind people.
This is indeed a good method, but sometimes people still lack respect for stationary warning lines, and fixed routes do not align with the actual work of forklifts in some industrial sites.
Finally, we get to the main topic. If you're still reading, it means you are very patient.
Around 2000, people in Europe began using area lights mounted on forklifts as moving warning lines to remind people, filling this safety gap.
Moving objects are easily noticed by people, which is something ingrained deep in our genes. If you've watched popular gaming matches, you'll find that people sometimes fail to notice a stationary opponent right in front of them but are very aware of a distant moving opponent.
Similarly, moving area lights can effectively remind people, especially in noisy environments, or when you want a quiet working environment (such as in a warehouse).
Initially, these area lights came in three main colors: red, green, and blue. Today, from our company's orders, it seems that green is almost being phased out, indicating that green is not very effective.
Some people believe that red overlaps with most warning colors, so they actively use blue area lights. These area lights initially weren't bright enough and could even be invisible in bright areas!
Over the years, our peers and our company have been trying to solve this problem and have introduced higher brightness area lights, such as our company's new product 1334Q, which is now even bought for use as car decorations (hahaha).
But before this, focused blue forklift lights have always been a good choice to replace blue area lights. Their light is more concentrated, making them usable in bright areas, but don't expect them to outshine the sun—this is something not even flashbangs can do, let alone a light.
Finally, I want to say that forklift safety is a comprehensive issue. Personnel training and system improvements are important factors. Don't expect a small light to solve everything perfectly (but of course, you should have one).
